BTEA CEO Promotes Bahrain at GEC Congress

H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, CEO, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), participated at Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC), Istanbul, Turkey, which took place between April 15 – 19.

Al Khalifa participated in a panel discussion which revolved around the significance of the tourism sector and how it has become a major contributor to the national economy, due to recent developments aimed at enhancing the Kingdom's position as a leading destination for hosting meetings, exhibitions, conferences and incentives.

“The Kingdom is also witnessing further enhancement to its tourism infrastructure, contributing 6.8 percent to the country’s non-oil GDP. Bahrain welcomed a total of 12.7 million tourists in 2017 which affirms the significant role of the sector in the Kingdom’s economic diversification efforts,” commented Al Khalifa.

In 2019, the congress will be hosted in Bahrain, opening up new opportunities for regional and global businesses to enhance experience sharing, seek investment opportunities and boost cooperation.
