Emirati Heritage Celebrated at Qasr Al Muwaiji

Qasr Al Muwaiji, the birthplace of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president, UAE, played host to a series of cultural experiences in celebration of Emirati heritage and the contemporary landscape of Al Ain.

The monthly Royal Bisht workshops and renowned poetry evenings returned on January 18, as part of Abu Dhabi’s annual Al Ain Cultural Programme.

Providing insight into the bisht, the Royal Bisht workshop explored bishts specifically hand-tailored for Emirati rulers and adorned with various patterns of gold or silver thread. Participants also had the opportunity to try their hand at sewing while taking inspiration from the Al Nahyan family’s bishts currently on display at Qasr Al Muwaiji. In celebration of Nabati poetry, visitors also took part in educational sessions celebrating the nation’s poets, writers and traditional skills.
