Researchers from 11 countries visited Egypt for The Alexandria International Conference for Maritime and Underwater Archaeology, sponsored by the European Institute for Underwater Archaeology and Centre for Alexandrian Studies.

Commemorating Central Department for Underwater Antiquities' (CDUA) 20th anniversary, Mohamed Mostafa Abdel Magid, head, CDUA, Egypt, underscored the department's achievements in this field as well as future challenges that it faces.

During the three-day event, some 25 scientists discussed studies of recent archaeological excavations in addition to topics such as submerged monument sites, building ships in the past, ancient ports and more.
