WASO Inaugurates Abu Dhabi Classics

West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) kicked off the new season of Abu Dhabi Classics in a night dedicated to German composer Richard Wagner.

Held at Emirates Palace, WASO was conducted by Richard Armstrong and accompanied by tenor Simon O'Neill.

Orchestrated by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, the concert marked the start of the emirate's musical programme which aims to explore artistic relations between the Arab and Western world under the theme of 1,001 Nights.

"The classics programme is a wonderful initiative that adds significantly to the cultural landscape of Abu Dhabi," commented Arthur Spyrou, ambassador to the UAE, Australia.
