The number of deals announced in the global travel and tourism sector declined by 3,8 percent during the week ended June 28, of this year, compared to the previous week, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The global travel and tourism sector grew at 3,9 percent to contribute a record USD8,8 trillion and 319 million jobs to the world economy in 2018. For the eighth consecutive year, this was above the growth rate of world GDP.

President Ramaphosa of South Africa is a Travel & Tourism job creation champion for his ambition to double the number of people employed in the sector, according to Gloria Guevara, CEO, World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).
