At the 18th session of the Arab Tourism Ministers Council, held in Sharjah, H.R.H. Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz,

president, Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH), called on the council to reconsider its role in light of the current regional instability, and leverage the value of religion, history and inherited culture and civilisation to strengthen security in the Arab world.

"We are passing through critical times," said bin Abdulaziz.

"We do not want the role of this council to be confined to economic development only, […] but we should assume the new roles to it to restore the prestige of the Arab world and bring its people under the glare of their history and heritage."
