The Sultanate’s executive arm for the development of its tourism sector plans to bring an array of activities, including a via ferrata, zipline, hiking trails, cross isthmus and mountain biking trails. Through this it aims to create experiences to further boost tourism offerings in Musandam and attract local, regional and international travellers eager to explore Oman from a different perspective. The development of the projects are due to commence in 2018 and will be focussed in the Khasab area.
“Through this project, we aim to increase the number of activities available to visitors, whilst preserving the peninsula’s natural beauty and safeguarding it for future generations,” revealed Peter Walichnowski, CEO, OMRAN.
Generally, according to Oman Ministry of Tourism, the Sultanate experienced a 4.7 percent growth in international visitors in 2017, testament to the efforts of the government to boost non-oil sectors as part of Vision 2040.
