A recent Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) announcement stated that it had hosted its first Working Meeting for Annual Plan of UN World Tourism Organisation Affiliate Members on March 14.
Described by RAKTDA as the emirate’s first hosted UNWTO meeting, it was attended by Haitham Mattar, CEO, RAKTDA, and vice chair of the UNWTO Affiliate Members, as well as Miguel Mirones, chairman, Affiliate Board Members, UNWTO.
Aiming to draft an annual plan, the meeting brought together UNWTO Affiliate Members programme members from as far as the US, Latin America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
“With the aim of contributing effectively to the UNWTO’s global mission, especially the area of the promotion of sustainable and responsible tourism, it is essential that we leverage the full potential of the experience, specialisation, know-how and networks of each affiliate board member. This gathering of UNWTO affiliate members paves the way for significant milestones and action plans this year and beyond,” Mattar said.
