DMCA Showcases Achievements at IALA Meeting

A meeting to showcase Dubai Maritime City Authority’s (DMCA) achievements was recently held between the Authority and International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) on March 05.

During the meeting, DMCA representatives welcomed Francis Zacharia, secretary general, IALA, where they discussed 2017’s national initiatives positioning Dubai as one of the world's best maritime capitals, and growing global recognition of the emirate’s global maritime sector leadership.

Attendees learnt about strategic initiatives to support the local maritime sector which currently hosts more than 5,500 companies with 13,000 activities, such as Dubai Maritime Virtual Cluster, which seeks to promote the global maritime community’s involvement.

“The local maritime sector is vital to the country’s economic diversification plans and a key contributor to building a highly sustainable, productive, innovative, and competitive economy,” commented Amer Ali, executive director, DMCA.
