Hotstats’ latest report MENA Chain Hotels Market Review August 2017  has indicated a positive month for hotels across the region with properties achieving an overall 6.6 percent increase in gross operating profit per available room year-on-year.

Mecca was one of the key markets that helped to drive the positive performance for the region for the month under review, with profit levels soaring as an outcome of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

As a result of the demand for hotel accommodation significantly outstripping supply, room occupancy at hotels in Mecca increased 16.7 percentage points representing a 76.8 percentage, with achieved average room rate increasing 75.9 percent to USD297.83.
The market mix was dominated by the group leisure segment, which accounted for 69.6 percent of total demand.
