Sharjah Enjoys Rising Tourism Appeal

Sharjah’s tourism and hospitality sectors continue to thrive with growing revenue, which reached AED372 million (USD101.2 million) during the first half of this year, up 7.8 percent over the same period in 2016.

Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority also reported an impressive 70 percent occupancy rate from January to June, with a total of 885,000 guests welcomed during the period, a 3.5 percent year-on-year climb.

Among these, Saudi nationals topped the list of guests at many hotels, demonstrating the emirate’s increasing popularity among GCC travellers.

This is attributed to the government’s efforts to position Sharjah as a prime regional family destination.
