Qatar Football Association has confirmed that Khalifa International Stadium has been proposed as the first host venue for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.

With the construction works completed, the stadium is ready to host the world matches up to the quarter-finals at Qatar 2022.

The remodelled premises are in full compliance with FIFA requirements boasting additional seating capacity, innovative cooling technology and a sport museum.

“The completion of our first stadium for the 2022 FIFA World Cup is an important milestone for Qatar and reflects our commitment to delivering all of the proposed venues well in advance of the tournament,” said H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi, secretary general, Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy.
