According to Turkish Airlines, in 2016 there was a significant boost in the number of inbound tourists to Turkey from the GCC region, with a 10.5 percent surge in the number of travellers visiting the country compared to 2015. 

The data, which was revealed at Arabian Travel Market (ATM), showed that Saudi Arabia marked the biggest growing source market, with a year-on-year jump of 18 percent, reaching 530,410 arrivals. Meanwhile, the second largest increase in tourist numbers was from the UAE, up 14 percent.

The airline also reported that the top three outbound GCC destinations from Turkey were Jeddah, Dubai and Kuwait.
