According to STR’s preliminary data for March, hotels in Dubai experienced a challenging month with RevPAR declining 11 percent year-on-year to AED652.61 (USD177.68), driven down by the continued growth in supply.

While demand increased 4.6 percent thanks to a number of large-scale events, supply rose six percent compared to March 2016, resulting in a 9.8 percent drop in average daily rate to AED756.21 (USD205.89).

Despite a 1.3 percent fall in occupancy over the corresponding period in 2016, STR revealed that this is a significant figure for March at 86.3 percent.
