With these new additions, Saudi Arabia becomes one of Gulf Air’s most heavily served countries within its network, by number of cities and frequencies. Taking the total number of cities served by Gulf Air in the Kingdom to seven, the launch of direct operations to Abha and Tabuk join the airline’s current operations to Dammam, Riyadh, Madina Al Munawarah, Jeddah and Gassim.
Commenting on the additional routes, Krešimir Kučko, CEO, Gulf Air, remarked, “By connecting more destinations [between] Saudi Arabia and Bahrain we are expanding the commercial, tourism and religious travel opportunities between the two countries and beyond.”
The carrier’s network expansion coincides with the airline expecting five Boeing B787-9 Dreamliners and two Airbus A320neos to enter its fleet by the end of this year.
“As we welcome our new fleet, Gulf Air’s network will continue to expand giving our Saudi passengers greater travel options across the globe, onboard state-of-the-art aircraft and with superior products and services,” concluded Kučko.
