Emirates to Fly A380 to Colombo

For the first time in Sri Lanka’s aviation history, Emirates will launch its double-deck Airbus A380 aircraft on a one-off flight to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on August 14.

The flight is being operated to celebrate the airport’s resurfaced runway.

Ahmed Khoory, senior vice president, West Asia and Indian Ocean, Emirates, pinpointed, “Colombo has welcomed us from the day Emirates commenced daily flights from Dubai in 1986, just a year after the airline launched its operations.  [...] For BIA and for aviation enthusiasts in Sri Lanka, this will certainly be a special day and we look forward to showcasing our unique on board products in this market.”
