Air Arabia laid out plans to launch a new service from Sharjah to Baku, expected to be the airline's first addition to its route map this year.

Beginning March 23, the carrier will operate four weekly flights from its main hub at Sharjah International Airport to Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku.

The new route follows an agreement between Air Arabia, Azarbajian Airlines and Azarbajiani authorities aimed at promoting connections between the two dstinations.

Air Arabia added nine itireraries to its global network in 2016 from its five operating hubs in the UAE, Morocco, Egypt and Jordan.

The airline also expanded offerings from Sharjah to Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to Batumi in Georgia.
