In the third quarter (Q3) of the year, passenger traffic at Dubai World Central (DWC) soared 161 percent when compared to the corresponding period in 2015.

Some 191,950 travellers passed through the airport during the quarter under review, bringing the year-to-date total to 605,228, a year-on-year boost of 112 percent.

Despite this, aircraft movements fell five percent in Q3 to 8,679, bringing the amount between January – September to just over 30,000, down 3.8 percent.

Furthermore, DWC handled more than 215,000 tonnes of cargo in Q3, a decline of 1.6 percent, while the year-to-date figures decreased 2.5 percent.
