Aqaba Airport Reports Growing Passenger Statistics

King Hussein International Airport, Aqaba, Jordan welcomed 200,000 passengers throughout 2017, marking a 27.1 percent increase year-on-year, according to Jordan News Agency.

Nasser Shraideh, chief commissioner, Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, noted that the increase was the result of effective marketing, which promoted air charters and new direct flight routes from Aqaba to different regional destinations, including; Beirut, Cairo, and Dubai, as well as internationally; such as, Brussels, Helsinki, Stockholm and Copenhagen.

The airport also witnessed improvements to its infrastructure thanks to a JD22 million (USD31 million) investment from Canada.
