Passenger Traffic Soared at Abu Dhabi Airport

Abu Dhabi International Airport handled over two million passengers in April, a 5.6 percent increase over the corresponding month in 2016.

During the month under review, India reclaimed its status as the main traffic driver with 1.9 percent year-on-year growth in travellers, representing 18 percent of all tourists.

Passengers on Saudi Arabia routes registered a sharp 17.4 percent increase over the same month in 2016, attributed to higher travel demand to Riyadh and Jeddah during the Umrah season. April also saw rising figures of travellers from the hub to Australia, up 28 percent, as a response to the launch of Etihad Airways’ double daily flight to Sydney.
